Does this car qualify for the X-prize? Did they enter it? If this achievement can be replicated, they deserve it.

And this would sell so much they would tack on $20,000 to the price just like the Volt!!!
Really, even after you added all the things that are required of cars, it would still get 75 mpg plus. How would this not sell???
It looks good, it looks to be able to hold 4 people, and its easy on gas - this is what the Prius and the Volt have been saying of themselves.

Nobody will buy it after it's been loaded up with the requisite safety and emissions stuff. Some people might want an air conditioner too.
"The car has been designed to be manufactured in small volume using recycled components from the automobile recycling yards. "
Well, might be fun to build one using the running gear out of a rust bucket.

I wonder how safe this thing is? What did he need to do to get it road certified?

Since this was built in 1984 and gets great gas mileage - why hasn't it been mass produced for the public yet?

It would be great if an everyday car could achieve 100+ MPG.

Goes to show the technology has been around for a while. Makes one wonder if someone is purposely holding it back.

The 55 MPH speed limit (which this car drove) was started back in the 1970's when the first "gas chrisis" happened.
Maybe driving at 55 MPH really does save gas!

Fantastic. For city driving though you need that pep to go in and out the freeway.

Well done. Interesting looking car and only '3-4 horsepower to keep a 55 mph pace'.

If we all drove one of these cars, how much gas would we have saved since 1894? How many acts of terrorism could we have stopped for lack of money in the terrorist's hands???
